name: english-lesson-prep description: Prepare for English conversation lessons by creating a dated markdown file with greeting examples in English and Japanese. Use when the user asks to prepare for a lesson, set up for English conversation, or create lesson notes before their English class.

English Lesson Prep

Automatically create a daily lesson file with greeting examples and note-taking space for English conversation lessons.

Workflow

When preparing for an English lesson:

  1. Create a new markdown file named with today's date: YYYY-MM-DD.md
  2. Add the file header with today's date
  3. Include a "Greetings / Opening" section with 3-5 greeting examples
  4. Each greeting should include:
    • English text
    • Japanese translation in parentheses on the next line
  5. Add a "10-Year Diary" section with a link to that day's diary page
  6. Add a "Review from Last Lesson" section with content from the most recent lesson file
  7. Add a "Notes" section at the end for lesson notes

Generate a link to the user's 10-year diary for that date:

  • URL format: https://web.10nikki.com/diary/{month}/{day}
  • Use the numeric month (1-12) and day (1-31) without leading zeros
  • Example: For January 7th, use https://web.10nikki.com/diary/1/7
  • Include an emoji icon (📖) and helpful text in Japanese suggesting to review past events

Finding Previous Lesson Content

  1. Look for the most recent dated markdown file (YYYY-MM-DD.md format)
  2. Read the file to extract lesson notes, topics discussed, and vocabulary
  3. Summarize key points in the Review section:
    • Topics discussed (話したトピック)
    • New vocabulary or expressions learned (学んだ単語・表現)

Greeting Examples

Use natural, conversational greetings appropriate for the context. Include variety:

Standard greetings

  • Hi! How have you been? (やあ!元気にしてましたか?)
  • It's been a while! How are things going? (久しぶりですね!調子はどうですか?)
  • Good to see you again! What's new? (また会えて嬉しいです!何か新しいことはありますか?)

Holiday/seasonal greetings (if applicable)

  • Happy New Year! How did you spend the holidays? (明けましておめでとうございます!休暇はどう過ごしましたか?)
  • Did you have a good weekend? (良い週末を過ごせましたか?)

Follow-up greetings

  • It's been a few weeks since we last talked. (最後に話してから数週間経ちましたね。)
  • How was your week? (今週はどうでしたか?)

## Notes

Best Practices

  • Match greetings to current events (holidays, seasons, time since last lesson)
  • Keep translations natural and conversational
  • Always include the 10-year diary link with the correct date format (no leading zeros)
  • Always check for and include previous lesson content in the Review section
  • If no previous lesson file exists, omit the Review section
  • Extract meaningful topics and vocabulary from previous lessons, not just random words
  • Leave the Notes section empty for the user to fill during the lesson
  • Save the file in the current working directory
