Workflow

When User Shares a YouTube URL

1. Identify the request type:

   • "summarize this video" → Extract subtitles, then summarize
   • "get the transcript" → Extract subtitles in requested format
   • "screenshot at 2:30" → Extract frame at timestamp
   • "what's in this video" → Get info + subtitles + analyze

2. Check subtitle availability:

Fallback Strategy

Integration with Tech Blog Wiki

When creating wiki entries from videos:

1. Extract content:

Language Support

The tool supports all languages available on YouTube:

• Specify with --lang flag: --lang ko,en,ja
• Priority order: first available language is used
• Auto-generated captions typically available for major languages

Quality Guidelines

Transcript Quality

• Prefer manual captions over auto-generated
• Note when using auto-generated (lower accuracy)
• Preserve timestamps for citation purposes

Frame Quality

• Use --format png for higher quality
• Default JPG is sufficient for most uses
• Frames are captured at video resolution

Documentation Quality

• Always cite video with timestamp references
• Include video URL in any derived content
• Note caption source (manual vs auto-generated)
